Arne Slot’s first Liverpool home game has been confirmed.
Slot is set to officially take charge for the Premier League opener at Ipswich Town on August 17 before facing Brentford at Anfield the following weekend.
But the Reds revealed on Friday that Jurgen Klopp’s successor will be afforded a home bow during their final pre-season friendly of the summer.
Preparations for the new campaign will conclude with a meeting against the seven-time Europa League winners on Sunday, August 11 at 3pm.
It will be Sevilla’s second visit to the red half of Merseyside, having held Klopp’s side to a 2-2 draw in the 2017/18 Champions League group stage.
The Colchoneros’ last meeting with Liverpool also came in pre-season when they ran out 2-1 winners in a friendly at Boston’s Fenway Park in 2019.
This week Slot recalled his first experience of Anfield after spending time as a guest of Liverpool’s former assistant manager Pep Lijnders in February 2017.
He said: “I visited the club once because I knew Pepijn, so I know how it feels when you are in the stadium.
“But to be there as the manager will probably be a bit more different than being there as a fan. It’s going to be really special I suppose.
“I’m used to Feyenoord, which is a fanbase that is really enthusiastic as well and is known for the atmosphere.
“I’m hoping and expecting that this goes one level up, not only in terms of the quality of the players but also in the way the fans will back the team.”
Slot will begin his non-competitive schedule against Sevilla’s city rivals Real Betis in Pittsburgh on July 26 at the outset of the club’s tour of the USA.
They will also clash with Premier League rivals Arsenal on July 31 in Philadelphia and Manchester United in South Carolina on August 3.
