Curtis Jones and Jarell Quansah have been overlooked for England’s Euro 2024 squad.
The Liverpool pair earned senior call-ups to Gareth Southgate’s provisional squad after both impressing during Jurgen Klopp’s final season at the helm.
But Jones and Quansah failed to make Thursday’s cut for the Three Lions’ 26-man travelling party heading to this summer’s tournament in Germany.
The Reds’ homegrown midfielder left the national side’s training camp early, having been told of his omission in advance of Southgate’s announcement.
However Quansah will remain with the squad as a standby option in the event of injuries either in training or Friday’s final friendly with Iceland at Wembley.
If selected, the Warrington-born defender will earn his first international cap.
Meanwhile Liverpool teammates Joe Gomez and Trent Alexander-Arnold are named in the squad with the latter listed as one of just five midfield options.
