Liverpool have recalled a sixth player from their season-long loan spell.
Billy Koumetio is the latest player set to return to Anfield after his spell with Dunkerque was cut short amid the club’s growing defensive injury crisis.
Jurgen Klopp’s side currently have Andy Robertson, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joel Matip and Kostas Tsimikas all ruled out of action, leaving them short of options.
Koumetio joins fellow defenders Calvin Ramsay, Owen Beck and Rhys Williams as well as James Balagizi and Fabio Carvalho in being summoned back this month.
“Billy Koumetio has returned to Liverpool from his loan spell with French side USL Dunkerque,” confirmed a club statement.
“The defender, who has been with the Reds since 2018, is now back at the club after spending the opening half of the season in Ligue 2, making nine appearances.
“Koumetio has twice featured for Liverpool’s senior team under Jürgen Klopp and signed his first professional contract in 2020.”
Carvalho joined Hull City, where Tyler Morton is also on loan, for the remainder of the current campaign after his stint at RB Leipzig was cut short in late December.
