Liverpool have confirmed Fabio Carvalho’s second season-long loan move.

Carvalho was recalled from a stint with RB Leipzig last month due to a lack of regular game time after making just two starts and 15 appearances overall.

It was anticipated that the Portugal under-21 international would be allowed to join another club on a short-term deal if afforded regular playing opportunities.

Wolves, Leeds United, Leicester City, Southampton and Carvalho’s former club Fulham were all credited with an interest in taking on the young forward.

But the Reds announced on Wednesday that Hull City have won the race for the player’s signature with a deal until the remainder of the current campaign.

Carvalho will link up with Anfield teammate Tyler Morton, already a first-team regular at the MKM Stadium since joining the Championship outfit on loan.

“I couldn’t be happier. Everyone is aware of Fabio’s ability, his qualities as a young player,” said Hull manager Liam Rosenior.

“Fabio is excited to be coming here and I’m delighted to be working with him to the end of the season.

“Technically, he’s outstanding. He can assist, score and run in behind. He’s brave, quick, very balanced and takes the ball.

“The reason he’s at Liverpool is because he’s got enormous potential and I can’t thank them enough for trusting us; Liverpool have seen the work we’ve done with Tyler Morton.

“Fabio’s got the ability to make a real impact on our season and get us to where we want to be.”
