Liverpool have won their appeal against Alexis Mac Allister’s red card.
Mac Allister received a straight dismissal for a challenge on Ryan Christie early into the second half of last weekend’s Premier League win over Bournemouth.
Anfield chiefs swiftly challenged the controversial ruling by referee Thomas Bramall, who was not urged by VAR Paul Tierney to review the incident.
The FA confirmed on Tuesday that the World Cup winner will no longer have to serve a three-game ban after accepting his was a ‘wrongful dismissal’.
“Alexis Mac Allister will not serve a suspension after a successful appeal against the red card he received during Saturday’s victory over AFC Bournemouth,” said a club statement.
“The Liverpool midfielder was sent off in the second half of the Premier League fixture following a tackle on Ryan Christie.
“A club appeal against the suspension has now been upheld by an Independent Regulatory Commission, meaning Mac Allister is eligible for selection when the Reds travel to Newcastle United on Sunday.”
