Liverpool kick off new season away to Chelsea

Liverpool will kick off the 2023/24 Premier League season away to Chelsea.

Jurgen Klopp’s side had hoped to launch their new campaign at a new-look home, where work on an extended Anfield Road Stand is nearing completion.

But owing to necessary work in the final stages of the new structure’s build, the Reds asked for their opening game to be scheduled away from Anfield

Instead, they will run out at the Stamford Bridge on August 13 before the first outing of a new 61,000-capacity Anfield on August 19 against Bournemouth.

The first Merseyside derby will take place at Anfield on October 21 before Goodison Park hosts the return leg on March 16 next year.

Liverpool will travel to Manchester City on November 25 before facing the reigning champions at Anfield on March 9.

Christmas sees Klopp’s charges face Arsenal on December 23 and a Boxing Day trip to Burnley before finishing 2023 at home to Newcastle on December 30.

Liverpool’s new calendar year begins with a trip to Bournemouth on January 13 while they finish the campaign at home to Wolves on May 19, 2024.

Fallout from the club’s involvement in the Europa League is also set to be eased with five of their six post-group stage games scheduled at home.

All fixtures are subject to change and broadcast rescheduling.
