48,000 see Liverpool legends edge out Celtic

An estimated 48,000 fans saw Liverpool legends edge out Celtic in the LFC Foundation’s latest charity game.

Goals from Steven Gerrard and Mark Gonzalez were enough to see a Sir Kenny Dalglish-led team of Anfield icons take the spoils on Saturday.

Around 4,000 travelling supporters made the trip from Glasgow to see their side take on the Reds’ old guard for the Foundation’s latest fundraising effort.

Speaking to Click Liverpool after the match, Celtic legend Ramon Vega admitted that he relished facing some of his former Premier League rivals.

He said: “It was brilliant – I felt young again!

“It’s about 20 years plus since I’ve been back here at Anfield. It’s a prestigious club and Liverpool fans are always so good but Celtic fans are just as big.

“I think it’s a great combination to have these two clubs playing for a good cause as well. It was brilliant, absolutely brilliant.

“From both Liverpool and Celtic’s side, I think it was great.”
