Liverpool handed fourth newcomer opening day

Liverpool will kick off the 2022/23 Premier League season away to Fulham.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are set to start a fourth successive campaign against a newly promoted team, having previously faced Leeds and Norwich City twice.

Teenage midfielder Fabio Carvalho could make a first appearance in the game with the Cottagers, having left them to move to Anfield earlier this summer.

Crystal Palace have been confirmed the Reds’ first visitors of the new season on August 13 before they face a trip to Manchester United just a week later.

The first Merseyside derby will take place at Goodison Park on September 3 before Everton travel to their neighbours for the return leg on February 11.

Liverpool will do battle with Manchester City again on October 15 at Anfield before facing the reigning champions at the Etihad Stadium on April 1, 2023.

Owing to the World Cup, their last pre-Qatar game will be at home to Southampton on November 12 before the league resumes on Boxing Day.

Last season’s FA Cup and Carabao Cup winners face a trip to Aston Villa on December 26 before finishing 2022 against Leicester City on New Year’s Eve.

Liverpool’s new calendar year will begin on the road at Brentford on January 2 and they also see out the season away from home at Southampton on May 28.

All fixtures are subject to change and broadcast rescheduling.
