Monaco leading the race for Liverpool forward

Monaco are leading the chase for Liverpool forward Takumi Minamino.

Minamino is expected to leave Jurgen Klopp’s side this summer with Luis Diaz’s January capture pushing him further down the club’s pecking order.

Several Premier League clubs have emerged as potential suitors including Southampton, where he spent the second half of 2020/21 on loan.

Leeds, Wolves and newcomers Fulham are also in the hunt to sign the Japan international, who has scored 14 times in his 55 appearances for the Reds.

The Londoners have enjoyed a series of productive deals with their Anfield counterparts in recent years, including Fabio Carvalho’s impending move.

However Monaco are currently in the box seat to land Minamino following their decision to sell midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni to Real Madrid.

Tchouameni’s switch to the Bernabeu is set to net the Ligue 1 giants an initial €80 million, which leaves them primed to meet Liverpool’s £17M valuation.
