Liverpool’s Community Shield details confirmed

Details for Liverpool’s Community Shield clash have been confirmed.

Jurgen Klopp’s side will face off against reigning Premier League champions Manchester City in the season’s traditional curtain-raiser on Saturday, July 30.

Both clubs previously contested the 2019 edition with City eventually winning a penalty shootout 5-4 after they were held to a 1-1 draw in normal time.

However the game is set to take place at Leicester City’s King Power Stadium due to Wembley hosting the Women’s Euro 2022 final on the same weekend.

A similar situation arose in 2012, when England’s national stadium held the Olympic football showpiece event and relocated the Shield to Villa Park.

Ironically Leicester are the current holders of the trophy, having beaten Pep Guardiola’s Citizens in the prelude to the 2021/22 Premier League campaign.

The game at the King Power will kick off at 5pm BST.
