Jurgen Klopp is hopeful of Thiago Alcantara featuring in the Champions League final.

Thiago suffered an Achilles injury which forced him off late during the first half of Liverpool’s final Premier League game of the season against Wolves.

Scans on the Spain international since showed that the extent of the issue is not severe, improving his chances of facing Real Madrid on Saturday night.

And Klopp has been buoyed by the initial prognosis as he aims to have the talismanic midfielder back in contention for the Stade de France showdown.

He said: “I met him inside, [there’s] a good chance he will be training this afternoon, he did some stuff this morning.

“It was not planned he will be doing this session with the players and in the moment it looks like he can be part of training tomorrow.

“That would be pretty helpful, obviously. We go from there.

“It’s surprisingly good. After the game I was not positive about it but we got news that night already that it doesn’t look that bad. We will see.”

“We just have to make sure we do the right thing in the right moment and we will try.”

“Nobody has any [emotional] pain from Sunday now. We’re all really looking forward to it. There are still levels to reach. We don’t think that because we reached two other cup finals that we wouldn’t care about this.

“It’s our third Champions League final in four years. It’s a special group. We’ve had ups and downs in our own Champions League history.”
