Liverpool’s Best Moments in 2021

The Premier League has had a pretty eventful year, and Liverpool had its share of ups and downs as well. Out of their 18 matches played so far, the Reds have won 12, scoring 50 goals in the process, something that didn’t come as a surprise to fans or Betway online betting users – we all knew the team was in for a great year, after all.

Now that 2021 is coming to an end, the time is ripe to look back at some of the greatest moments of the team in the year that’s passing in a few days.

Porto – Liverpool, Champions League group stage, September 28

Liverpool has met FC Porto for the ninth time in Matchday 2 of the UEFA Champions League group stage this September – in all of them, the Reds have remained unbeaten. This is a performance second only to the team’s matches against Scunthorpe United and Walsall, both of their runs of 11 unbeaten matches.

Considering Porto’s results in the Champions League up to that point, there was no question that the Reds would win – but the margin was a bit unexpected: 5-1. Salah scored his first in the 18th minute, followed by a goal by Mané in the 45th. Salah scored his second in the 60th, then Firmino scored twice, turning the match into one of the most resounding victories in the group stage.

Watford – Liverpool, Premier League, October 16

Watford didn’t do great in the current Premier League season. The team is currently 17th, with only four victories out of its 16 games played, and 21 goals scored against 31 conceded.

Watford’s game against Liverpool was clearly unbalanced. Still, the match is one of the highlights of Liverpool’s Premier League season – it was the seventh consecutive match in which the Reds have scored at least three goals, becoming the first top-flight club in the league’s history to do so.

The match ended in 0-5, with Mané and Salah both scoring once, and Firmino scoring a hat-trick.

Manchester United – Liverpool, Premier League, October 24

Finally, here is one match that Manchester United will not forget for long, long years. The Red Devils’ lineup included big names like Rashford, Lindelöf, and Cristiano Ronaldo, still one of the biggest footballers in the world. Still, they took a humiliating beating, losing to the Reds 0-5.

The first goal in the match was scored by Keïta five minutes after the start of the game. Jota was next, scoring just eight minutes later. Salah, as usual, did his part, scoring a hat-trick in the match.

The last time Manchester United lost with a margin larger than this was in 1895 – also to Liverpool that beat the Red Devils 7-1 at Anfield.
