A woman was knocked down by a car being chased by police in Anfield.
The female pedestrian was struck by a grey Honda at the junction of Sleepers’ Hill and Breckfield Road North shortly after 1.05am on Sunday morning.
Police had been pursuing the vehicle since observing it travelling at high speed in nearby Breck Road. The driver made off at the scene.
Officers provided first aid to the woman on-site until she was taken hospital, where her injuries were described as being serious but not life-threatening.
A 38-year-old man from Brombrough was identified as the driver of the Honda and arrested on suspicion of causing injury by dangerous driving.
He has been taken into custody and will be questioned by police.
Temporary road closures which were put in place around the Sleepers’ Hill area have been lifted.
