Merseyrail will roll out an increased service for the bank holiday weekend, in an attempt to cope with large crowds.
With Liverpool set to play host to both Sound City and the Rock ‘n’ Roll marathon from Saturday, the region’s rail provider have responded by putting on more trains to deal with the influx of visitors to the city.
Popular music festival Sound City will take place at Liverpool Waters site Bramley-Moore Dock, with Wirral group the Coral, former Libertines frontman Pete Doherty and Hot Chip amongst the headline acts, while Sunday’s marathon is also likely to draw tens of thousands of people to the waterfront.
Due to the Sound City music festival finishing at 00:00 on both days, the last Merseyrail trains from nearest station Sandhills will all leave later than normal.
As a result, trains into Liverpool will begin as early as 6:53 and the last train leaving the city will depart at 12.01am for Kirkby.
