Everton FC turn attention to surprise candidate in manager search

Everton have targeted Braga manager Paulo Fonseca in their search for Roberto Martinez’s successor.

Reports suggest that Blues officials are setting their sights on Fonseca as a number of candidates ruled themselves out of the running, including Ronald Koeman and Lucien Favre.

Former Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini has been approached about the vacant hot seat while Barcelona legend Frank de Boer continues to express an interest in taking the reins at Goodison Park.

But ESPN claim that Everton sent representatives to watch the 43-year-old oversee Braga’s victory over Porto in the Taca de Portugal final last weekend.

In addition to the cup success, Fonseca has also led Braga to a fourth-place finish as well as the quarter-finals of the Europa League since taking the reins at the club last summer.
