Lucien Favre has claimed he dropped out of the running to become the new Everton manager as he was ‘tired of waiting’.
The 51-year-old became the new head coach at Nice earlier this week as the Blues’ search for Roberto Martinez’s successor continues, a fortnight after the Catalan was sacked.
Frank de Boer, Manuel Pellegrini and Ronald Koeman continue to be touted with the Goodison Park hot seat despite the latter opting to stay with Southampton.
But Favre revealed that he opted to join the Ligue 1 club over taking the reins at Everton due to the prolonged recruitment process.
“The opportunity to go to Nice has presented at the right time,” he told RTS Sport.
“I know I was on the short list of Everton.
“But I did got tired of waiting.”
