Everton will start work on their Bramley-Moore Dock stadium later this month.
Plans for the Blues to relocate from Goodison Park to the north Liverpool docks were approved in February by the city council’s planning committee.
Final ratification arrived just a month later with local government secretary Robert Jenrick formally signing off on the 52,888-capacity waterfront venue.
Goodison chiefs confirmed on Thursday that they will begin the first phase of construction at Bramley-Moore Dock when they take over the site on July 26.
Repair and preservation of the Grade II-listed dock wall and demolishing non-listed structures will take place before Laing O’Rourke take over the project.
Once that early preparation work is completed, contractors Laing will be responsible for infilling the disused dock, which was closed for use in 1988.
Everton chairman Bill Kenwright said: “We are thrilled to be able to confirm that construction work will commence on our new stadium later this month.
“This will be a momentous day in the history of the club and is testament to the ambition and financial commitment of Farhad (Moshiri) and the determination and talent of Denise (Barrett-Baxendale) and her executive team at the club.
“Like every Evertonian, Goodison Park has been a massive part of my life.
“But in moving forward we could not have found a more fitting nor more glorious site for our new stadium – one which will both honour our history and celebrate our magnificent future.”
