Everton are set to take on Manchester United in their final pre-season outing.
A warm-up game between the North West clubs has been confirmed for August 7, just seven days before the new Premier League campaign starts.
Goodison Park officials are hopeful that a limited number of away fans will be present at Old Trafford for the game in line with relaxed Covid-19 restrictions.
The Government is expecting to ease measures from July 19, opening up the prospect of Blues supporters being present to see their team in live action.
Prior to facing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side, Everton will be involved in the Florida Cup alongside Arsenal, Inter Milan and Millonarios from July 25-28.
Everton last faced the 20-time champions for a pre-season fixture in August 2016 as part of Wayne Rooney’s testimonial, which ended in a goalless draw.
Old Trafford chiefs were previously in discussions with Everton’s local rivals Liverpool over a double-header of games but quickly shelved the proposal.
Fallout at both clubs over their role in the failed European Super League project is understood to have been a driving factor in that decision.
Everton have yet to appoint a new manager, with ex-Reds boss Rafael Benitez currently the favourite to be installed as Carlo Ancelotti’s replacement.
However the move has been met with strong resistence from the club’s fan base due to the Spaniard’s previous references to them as a ‘small club’.
Banners were hung outside Goodison condemning Benitez’s potential arrival.
