Nuno Espirito Santo is closing in on becoming Everton’s next manager.
Talks have taken place between Goodison Park chiefs and representatives of Portuguese coach over him being installed as Carlo Ancelotti’s replacement.
Further discussions are set to be held in the coming days as Blues’ majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri aims to make an official appointment next week.
Nuno previously met with Crystal Palace about their own vacant manager position before negotiations ultimately broke down on Tuesday evening.
Several candidates have been under consideration by Everton, including Rafael Benitez, Manuel Pellegrini and Paolo Fonseca, since Ancelotti’s departure.
But former Wolves boss Nuno is now the clear favourite to take the reins.
During a four-year stint at Molineux, the 47-year-old secured qualification for the Europa League and reached the competition’s quarter finals in 2019/20.
Prior to that, he also spent a season apiece in charge of Porto and Valencia.
