Everton have had a bid rejected for Lille full-back Djibril Sidibe, according to reports in France.
The Blues are still on the hunt for a new manager following the dismissal of Roberto Martinez, but are believed to have started their transfer plans in earnest with wealthy new backer Farhad Moshiri leading the recruitment drive.
One particular area of focus appears to be defence, and after Martinez’s side conceded a whopping 55 goals in last season’s Premier League, attention has turned to bringing in quality reinforcements for the 2016/17 campaign.
And following a failed January move for then Leeds United defender Sam Byram, who eventually moved to West Ham, the Goodison Park club are back in the market for cover for first-choice right-back Seamus Coleman.
La Voix du Nord claim that Ligue 1 side Lille have rejected a bid in the region of £10 million from Everton for Sidibe.
The versatile 23-year-old former France under-21 international is known for his attacking prowess, having scored 5 goals for Les Dogues this season.
The French publication adds that the French club are holding out for a fee closer to £12 million for the player who is equally adept at left-back.
Watford, Arsenal and Ligue 1 side Lyon have also been credited with an interest in the marauding full-back.
