Dominic Calvert-Lewin was the big winner at Everton’s end of season awards.
A breakout 12 months saw Calvert-Lewin score 21 goals for Carlo Ancelotti’s side heading into their final game of the campaign against Manchester City.
The striker also transferred his prolific form for the Blues to the international stage with four goals in his first seven games for England ahead of Euro 2020.
Calvert-Lewin’s progress was recognised in Friday’s annual awards as he scooped Men’s Player of the Season and the Players’ Player of the Season.
Ancelotti announced the 24-year-old’s first accolade voted on by fans and received a glowing tribute from the Everton no.9 in his acceptance speech.
“When the manager came to the club, he put his confidence in me to keep performing and didn’t give me too much to think about apart from being in the box and scoring goals,” said Calvert-Lewin.
“I have belief in what we are trying to achieve and in the ability in our squad and we can go on to achieve great things.”
Among the recipients of the other awards was Ben Godfrey, who won Young Player after a remarkable debut season since arriving from Norwich City.
Everton’s director of football Marcel Brands hailed the development of the 23-year-old since making the deadline day move worth around £25 million.
He said: “Ben had a huge impact from the day he arrived.
“He showed good character and good quality in all positions and is a great lad.”
Richarlison’s goal which opened the scoring in a long-awaited Merseyside derby victory at Anfield was also chosen as the club’s Goal of the Season.
The Brazil international, who was voted Player of the Season in 2019/20, said: “It was a very special goal because of how long we’d gone without winning at Anfield.
“This [award] was one of my aims for the season and, although I know I could have achieved more, I’m really happy with the confidence you’ve shown in me by voting for me for goal of the season.”
Izzy Christiansen received a considerable share of the vote as Everton Women’s Player of the Year after they sealed a first top-five finish sicne 2013.
Goalkeeper Sandy MacIver received Young Player of the Year with a series of impressive displays for Willie Kirk’s side that earned her an England call-up.
“It is an honour being voted player of the season by the supporters,” said Christiansen.
“I have loved every minute of this season and am really looking forward to next season and trying to push on as a team.”
