Everton have reportedly expressed a strong interest in Marseille goalkeeper Steve Mandanda.
With first-choice stopper Tim Howard set for a summer move to the Colorado Rapids and the American’s understudy Joel Robles yet to truly convince behind the posts, the Blues look certain to bring in a new custodian during the close season.
And reports in France claim that Mandanda is believed to feature prominently on their list of potential replacements.
Le 10 Sport claim the out-of-contract 31-year-old has attracted interest from a number of teams, including Monaco, but that Everton’s interest in the talented shot-stopper remains the strongest.
Marseille lost the Coupe de France final 4-2 against bitter rivals PSG on Saturday evening, with Mandanda confirming after the match that it may well be his last game for the historic French side.
“There is a good chance that tonight was my last game,” he told Goal.com.
“That’s why the disappointment and frustration are even greater.”
Meanwhile, the Toffees have also reportedly moved a step closer to a prospective restructuring of the upper echelons of the club, with Dutch legend Marc Overmars and Everton hero Joe Royle shortlisted for the Director of Football role at Goodison Park.
