Carlo Ancelotti has pledged to repay Farhad Moshiri’s faith by ensuring Everton can compete at the Premier League’s business end.
Moshiri played an integral role in in the Italian being appointed Marco Silva’s permanent successor at the Goodison Park club little under 12 months ago.
The British-Iranian billionaire recently put forward a £250 million share issue in addition to the £400m he has already invested in the Blues since 2016.
Everton posted record losses of £139.9m to the year ending June 30 with half of that amount attributable to the fallout from the coronavirus pandemic.
“My reaction [to the accounts] is that I understand the owner is really attached to the club and really focused on improving this club,” said Ancelotti.
“This is really important for the club and for all the supporters. The pressure I have is that he has a lot confidence in me.
“He has trust in me because he signed me and he brought me to Everton. I’m doing it to bring his club to the top.
“That is my goal and what I promised to him.”
Ancelotti’s side take on Leicester City on Wednesday on the back of similarly high-flying wins against Chelsea and Tottenham and a draw with Liverpool.
He added: “We have competed well against Liverpool, Tottenham and Chelsea this season which means we are not so far from the top but we are not there yet.
“We have to keep working.”
Thierry Small could feature for Everton in the coming weeks after the teenage left-back began training with the senior squad following injury to Lucas Digne.
“Thierry did well. He is really, really young. He is like a kid, he is only 16 years old,” said the Everton manager.
“But he has quality and physicality to play with the first team. He is one of our best players in the academy, so I was pleased to bring him to train with us.
“I think for what he is doing it was good for him, too.”
