Liverpool are set to press ahead with a revamp of the Anfield Road Stand.
Plans to expand the Premier League champions’ stadium capacity by a further 7,000 seats faced uncertainty following the outbreak of coronavirus in March.
However Anfield chiefs have confirmed to local residents that an amended version of their original designs will be submitted to Liverpool City Council.
The refurbishment is expected to take 18 months, meaning that the new stand could be operational in time for the start of the 2023/24 season.
Following a consultation with residents, the Reds pledged to modify the £60 million rebuild to facilitate traffic on Anfield Road during non-match days.
Once completed, Anfield’s capacity is scheduled to rise to over 61,000.

Speaking in April, Liverpool’s managing director Andy Hughes said: “”The complex build programme for Anfield Road is an 18-month process and needs two clear summer closed season windows in order for it to be successful.
“This is why we are pausing on the project for at least 12 months so the earliest we could complete the programme is summer 2023 rather than summer 2022 as originally planned.
“Given the planning application is no longer time critical, it is our intention to submit our planning application at some stage during the next 12 months.”
