Manchester United legend touts John Stones for Old Trafford move

John Stones has ‘Manchester United written all over him’, according to Red Devils legend Gary Pallister.

21-year-old Stones endured a mixed season for Everton in which he lost his place in the Blues’ side following a series of high-profile errors.

The elegant former Barnsley centre-back has been included in Roy Hodgson’s provisional England squad for Euro 2016 yet may well play second-fiddle to Three Lions teammates Chris Smalling and Gary Cahill in light of his worrying slump in form.

But Pallister, who won four league titles at United during a distinguished career, has earmarked the young Blues defender as a potential summer signing for the Old Trafford club.

“He’s been copping a bit of flack over the last few months,” Gary Pallister told the Independent.

“It’s a learning curve. I went through it as a player. When you do try to play out from the back you look as though you’re taking chances.

“He’s still a young kid and there’s still plenty to come from him. I think he reads the game really well. He’s a player that’s got Manchester United written all over him. If you went British he’s the stand-out name.”
