Pep Guardiola has confirmed Manchester City will form a guard of honour for Liverpool.
The new Premier League champions travel to the Etihad Stadium for Thursday’s rescheduled meeting with their predecessors at the summit.
City’s 2-1 defeat to Chelsea on Thursday handed the title over to their Anfield counterparts after a 30-year wait and confirmed a changing of the guard.
And Guardiola insists that his players will line up either side of the route that Jurgen Klopp’s side will take when they step out at Eastlands next week.
He said: “Of course we are going to do it. We are going to do the guard of honour of course.
“Always we receive Liverpool when they come to our house in an incredible way.
“They cannot complain and of course we are going to do it because they deserve it.”
