Bars and restaurants across the city will be able to reopen from July, 4 following an announcement by Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
The hospitality industry was forced in to closure on March 20 and will now be allowed to reopen so long as social distancing rules are implemented. Following an announcement by Boris Johnson today it is understood that social distancing will be lowered from 2m to 1m which will be a further boost to the hospitality industry.
The city’s eateries and bars will need to adapt to the new normal with Grand Central Hall over on Renshaw Street making use of their large gardens to the rear of the building. Roscoe Gardens will open up from the 4th July and this will be accessed via Mount Pleasant.
The team behind the Grand Central are looking to erect a marquee at the back of the gardens as well as around 25 large tables that will be placed at safe distances around the gardens. The idea is that families or groups of friends can book tables of 6 at the outdoor venue.
Owner of Grand Central Hall, which also includes Smokie Mo’s a hotel and large dome theatre space Maureen Bramwell said ” It’s been a difficult 3-4 months for the industry as well as the nation and we now look forward to opening up our outdoor space for the last few summer months. A marquee will cover some of the outdoor area and and we will be lead by the government guidelines as well as the Great British Weather.” Tables can be booked via the website.
Venues owned by The Pub Invest Group which includes McCooleys, Dirty O’Sheas, Einstein, Soho, The Rubber Soul Complex, The Old Bank and several more sites will also be opening on July 4.
Rooftop bar Liberte, which is known for its bottomless brunches and bank holiday events, will be also reopening.
Brand new venue, Harrisons and the Abbey Road on Harrington Street, will also reopen after it was forced to close on the very day that which lockdown started.
Boris Johnson also confirmed that you will be able to stay in hotels, bed and breakfasts and campsites so long as communal areas are cleaned regularly.
Nightclubs, Bowling Alleys, Spas and Gym’s must remain closed until further information is released by the Government.
