Mixed Liverpool injury news for Palace visit

Liverpool have been handed mixed injury news ahead of Crystal Palace’s visit.

The Premier League leaders will be able to recall Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson for the game with Roy Hodgson’s side at Anfield on Wednesday.

Salah sat out Sunday’s Merseyside derby stalemate with Everton while Robertson was absent from the match day squad due to fitness issues.

But the pair’s return to action has been offset by injuries that Joel Matip and James Milner picked up during last weekend’s Goodison Park encounter.

Jurgen Klopp confirmed that Milner was withdrawn shortly before half time with a hamstring problem while Matip later left the field with a toe complaint

He said: “The two guys, Milly and Joel will not be available tomorrow.

“We have to figure out exactly how long it will take, but tomorrow they don’t play.

“James Milner felt his hamstring, it’s not too serious. He trains 365 days a year, he came back from lockdown and could play the next day and Joel in a challenge [someone] stepped on his foot.

“There will be injuries, 100 percent, we all have to make sure the boys are in the best possible shape.”

The Liverpool manager’s prognosis on the respective involvement of Salah and Robertson for the upcoming meeting with the Eagles was more positive.

“He (Salah) trained yesterday completely normal, will train today completely normal I would guess so he’s available – what I make of the lineup you will have to wait until tomorrow,” added Klopp.

“It is the same with Robbo, he trained yesterday as well completely normal, so that’s the same.”
