Dominic Calvert-Lewin is on the verge of signing a new long-term deal at Everton.
Calvert-Lewin has enjoyed a rich vein of form since Carlo Ancelotti’s arrival and is currently the Blues’ top scorer in the Premier League this season.
The England under-21 international racked up his 13th goal of the campaign during the opening minutes of last weekend’s draw with Manchester United.
Goodison Park chiefs are hopeful of Calvert-Lewin reaffirming his commitment to the club until summer 2025 following Mason Holgate’s renewal this week.
And Ancelotti admitted on Friday that he believes that it is a matter of time before a deal over the 22-year-old’s long-term future is reached.
He said: “We are close to Dominic Calvert-Lewin and I hope he is going to sign soon, and so the idea for the future is really clear for us.
“I think that they are talking, they are very close, and soon he is going to sign.”
Ancelotti also confirmed on Friday that Everton are weighing up offering a 12-month extension to Leighton Baines, whose contract expires this summer.
Baines has been regularly called upon to reprise his role at left-back and stepped into the void against United and Arsenal due to Lucas Digne’s injury.
“There is a possibility, we are going to talk with him,” added Ancelotti.
“For us, for the club, for me and I think also for his teammates – it will be important to have him next season.
“He has a fantastic attitude in training, in games and he’s still a good player. He’s physically good, but he has the experience and personality that is important for our squad.”
