Ancelotti fined after accepting FA charge

Everton manager Carlo Ancelott has been fined £8,000 by the Football Association.

Ancelotti accepted an improper conduct charge brought against him after he was sent off at the end of the Blues’ 1-1 draw with Manchester United.

Referee Chris Kavanagh sent off the Champions League-winning coach for remonstrating with him over a disallowed late goal by Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

The FA confirmed that Ancelotti accepted breaching rule E3 which saw him hit with a financial penalty but avoided a potential touchline ban for the offence.

It means the Italian is still free to take charge of Everton’s trip to Chelsea.

Ancelotti insisted following last weekend’s 1-1 draw with United that he had shown no disrespect to Kavanagh before he was retrospectively dismissed.

“I asked for an explanation after the game. There was a misunderstanding on the pitch and he sent me off,” he said at the time.

“After that I spoke with him calmly in the dressing room. I want to keep our conversation private and now he will make a report for the FA and we will see.

“I didn’t disrespect him but I can understand because, for the referee, there were a lot of important decisions at the end of the game.

“But I didn’t disrespect him.”
