Marcel Brands listened to concerns from irate Everton fans who turned up at Finch Farm.
A group of aggrieved supporters arrived at the Blues’ training ground unannounced on Monday following the abject FA Cup defeat to Liverpool.
Seven fans had travelled to the base in Halewood with intentions of confronting members of Carlo Ancelotti’s side over their performance.
But Everton director of football Brands spoke with the supporters at the front gates after it emerged that others could be mobilised to stage a blockade.
The Times claim the Dutchman spent 20 minutes in discussion with the group, who believe Everton has attracted players looking for a cushy pay-day.
Many of the signings identified predate Brands’ arrival at Goodison Park in summer 2018 and were sanctioned by his predecessor Steve Walsh.
The incident came just hours before Fabian Delph became involved in a social media spat with a fan over the manner of the third round exit at Anfield.
Delph insisted that he had given ‘100 per cent’ in the game against a young Liverpool side and claimed the players were more upset than the fan base.
Everton’s players came in for particular criticism for their failure to acknowledge travelling fans after the final whistle of last Sunday’s game.
However defender Seamus Coleman and Mason Holgate found time to confront Liverpool supporters near the tunnel area as they left the pitch.
