Everton duo in line for improved contracts

Duncan Ferguson and Dominic Calvert-Lewin are in line for new Everton deals.

Ferguson took the reins as Blues’ caretaker last month in the wake of Marco Silva’s sacking and produced a four-game unbeaten run in all competitions.

The former striker recently found himself elevated from first-team coach to assistant manager in Carlo Ancelotti’s Goodison Park backroom reshuffle.

Ancelotti has placed on record his gratitude to Ferguson for successfully steadying the ship prior to his own appointment as Everton manager.

And the 48-year-old is now set to be rewarded with a contract extension while the Toffees are closing in on a deal to safeguard Calvert-Lewin’s future.

The England under-21 striker will earn between £70,000 and £75,000 per week with the improved terms, which reflect his growing first-team influence.

Calvert-Lewin has racked up 10 goals in all competitions this term and produced match-winning contributions during Ancelotti’s first two games in charge.

Ancelotti admitted he tried to sign the 22-year-old while at Napoli and has backed him to become among the leading strikers in both England and Europe.
