Howard rejoins Everton as US ambassador

Tim Howard has rejoined Everton as the club’s international ambassador.

The veteran goalkeeper will take up the new role with his former club after calling time on a 22-year career in professional football last weekend.

Howard spent a decade at Goodison Park between 2006 and 2016 before returning to his native United States for a three-year stint with Colorado Rapids.

In 2008/09, he recorded 17 Premier League clean sheets and made two saves in a penalty shootout against old club Manchester United in the FA Cup semi-final.

The 40-year-old’s first appearance in his new role will be in an exclusive fan event held in Austin, Texas following the Blues’ trip to Brighton and Hove Albion.

His ambassadorial position will see him focus on supporting Everton’s commercial activities and its official partners – and continue to build the club’s profile in the US.

Howard’s first appearance in his new role at this month’s Premier League Live event in Austin, Texas will take place at the Scholz Garten, the oldest beer garden in America.

His appearance is part of a two-day fan festival that enables Stateside supporters to watch a selection of English top-flight games.

Howard will attend the special event on the day Marco Silva’s side take on Brighton at the Amex stadium.

Following the match, the club will host a special event for fans at The Haymaker bar in Austin, Texas from midday-3pm CDT.

Howard will hold a Q&A to discuss his memorable career and more before taking part in interactive games with members of the audience on the day.
