Silva hopeful of Everton stay after Moshiri talks

Marco Silva is hopeful of reviving Everton’s fortunes after talks with Farhad Moshiri.

Pressure continues to mount on Silva with Saturday’s defeat to Burnley becoming the Blues’ fourth successive defeat in the Premier League this season.

His side have recorded just seven points from their opening eight games of the new campaign and led to sections of the club’s fan base turning on the manager.

But Silva revealed that a number of meetings with majority Everton shareholder Moshiri gives him cause for optimisim of salvaging his Goodison Park tenure.

“All the feedback I had in the last few days and last week as well, goes in this way,” said Silva.

“If they saw the game (against Burnley), and for sure they saw, they can analyse and they will have seen the same thing that I saw and I don’t see that as being reason for things to change, to be honest.”

He added: “This is not the moment to be worried, it is not the word.

“I have the same confidence I had at the beginning of the season, the same confidence with our quality, the same confidence with what we are doing every single day.

“Of course, the detail is playing against us, or we score a goal, we are not being clinical like we must be or like we should be and in some moments of the game.

“But I am not worried. Of course I am not happy, not happy with the results or where we are in the table.

“There is just one way (to fix that) being more brave, more clinical, more assertive as well upfront to score and win games.”

Meanwhile Fabian Delph has withdrawn from the latest England squad.

Delph’s early-season form at Goodison earned him a recall to the national side for their Euro 2020 qualifiers with the Czech Republic and Bulgaria.

But the midfielder’s international return proved short-lived due to a hamstring problem sustained during Everton’s 1-0 defeat at Turf Moor last weekend.
