My Everton FC future ‘not being discussed’, insists Roberto Martinez

Under-fire Everton manager Roberto Martinez has refused to be drawn on his future at the club.

Following last weekend’s defeat at Leicester City, the Blues boss runs the risk of being sacked before this weekend’s final Premier League fixture of the season against Norwich City.

Supporters are also set to demonstrate against Martinez at the club’s end-of-season awards this Thursday, but ahead of tomorrow’s trip to Sunderland, the former Wigan manager insists his future is not a topic for discussion.

He said: “Total focus is on Wednesday night’s game at Sunderland.

“Nothing else is being discussed.”

Martinez has demanded a response from his forlorn group of underperforming players ahead of Everton’s trip to the Stadium of Light.

“It’s a huge, huge game. It’s about reacting to our performance from Leicester. We’re all fighting and have to react tomorrow,” he added.

“You win and you lose as a team and if you don’t reach a level of intensity it is difficult to compete with anyone. We all have a strong a desire to get back to our level and tomorrow is a chance to do that.

As a team, we have to react from the disappointment from the weekend. The Bouremouth performance wasn’t a stylish performance but was a performance with a lot of guts.

“Against Leicester we got distracted and caught up in that celebration environment.

“The reaction has been clear, not just this week but after the final whistle. We have a strong desire to get back to our best level.”
