Everton refute second Wilfried Zaha bid claims

Everton have strongly refuted claims concerning a second bid for Wilfried Zaha.

Crystal Palace turned down an initial £52 million offer from the Blues for the winger, who wants to be playing European football by 2020, last weekend.

But reports on Monday alleged that Goodison Park officials had revised their valuation of Zaha with an increased fee of £55m as part of a part-exchange deal.

Midfielder James McCarthy and striker Cenk Tosun were said to be included as makeweights in efforts to secure the Nigeria international’s signature.

However those claims have been rejected by Everton despite the club confirming that their initial approach to the Eagles for Zaha had been unsuccessful.

“Everton Football Club categorically denies that a bid has been submitted to Crystal Palace for Wilfried Zaha that included an increased sum plus Cenk Tosun and James McCarthy,” read a club statement.

“Everton and Crystal Palace have a very good relationship. A bid was made over the weekend which was turned down.

“Both clubs agreed that was the end of the matter.”

Meanwhile Idrissa Gueye is set to be confirmed as a Paris Saint-Germain player after completing a medical on Monday ahead of his £30m transfer.

The Ligue 1 champions had failed to prise the Senegal midfielder away from Everton in January but agreed a fee with their second attempt this summer.

Gueye arrived at Goodison in 2016 on an £8m deal from Aston Villa and went on to make 106 appearances in all competitions while scoring three times.
