Everton FC pinpoint Manchester United reject as summer target

Everton are reportedly interested in a summer move for Burnley defender Michael Keane.

New investor Farhad Moshiri is believed to be readying a major summer overhaul of the Blues’ squad, with defence pinpointed as a key area of weakness following a season in which Roberto Martinez’s side have leaked 52 league goals in just 36 games.

As it stands, Everton are short of cover in the centre of defence and £10 million-rated Keane, currently set to return to the Premier League with the Clarets, has been identified as a potential solution to the problem position.

The Manchester United academy graduate, 23 has excelled for the Clarets this season, playing a major part in Sean Dyche’s side gaining automatic promotion back to the Premier League.

And the Daily Mirror claim that Keane’s form has alerted a number of Premier League teams, including Everton and Stoke City, who are both in the market for a central defender this summer.
