Luis Boa Morte has been appointed Everton’s new assistant manager.
Boa Morte succeeds Marco Silva’s previous long-serving deputy Joao Pedro Sousa, who has left the Blues to take charge of Portuguese outfit Famalicao.
The former striker, played for a string of Premier League clubs in his career with spells at Arsenal, Southampton, Fulham and West Ham between 1997 and 2011.
More recently Boa Morte has been assistant at Maccabi Haifa in Israel but has now signed a two-year deal to reunite with Silva at Goodison Park.
He previously worked under the Everton manager during his time at Sporting Lisbon in the 2014/15 season as the coach of the club’s under-19 side.
“I’m very happy to be joining Everton, a big club with so much history and tradition,” said Boa Morte.
“I’m excited to be working again with the manager, Marco Silva, who is a great coach and I would like to thank him for providing me with such a big opportunity.
“I’m looking forward to meeting all the players and staff at the club when we return for pre-season training next month and start the preparations for the 2019/20 Premier League season.”
