Liverpool are reportedly in ‘advanced’ negotiations with Nike over a new kit deal.
Anfield chiefs continue to explore switching production of the club’s strips to a different supplier when their agreement with New Balance expires next year.
But ESPN FC claim that Nike are now in the driving seat to succeed the Boston-based sportswear firm, who will make the Reds’ kits for the 2019/20 season.
Plans to elevate Liverpool’s earning potential from a new kit deal above their Premier League rivals are understood to have been mooted by the US giant.
Adidas and Manchester United’s £750 million partnership remains the league’s highest-grossing but is expected to be eclipsed by Nike’s proposals for Liverpool.
Barcelona currently receive £100m per year from Nike since agreeing a 10-year deal in 2018 while Real Madrid’s deal with Adidas commands £95m per annum.
Liverpool have also held talks with Adidas, who made their kits from 1985 to 1996 and 2006 until 2012, as well as Puma in a bid to secure a lucrative deal.
