Second cyclist dies after Liverpool Airport crash

A second cyclist has died following a road crash near to Liverpool Airport.

Anthony Cope was riding with friend Claire Killey when they were involved in a collision with three cars on Hale Drive in Speke on February 28.

Ms Killey, 45, later died from her injuries in hospital.

Merseyside Police have now confirmed that Mr Cope also died on Monday, almost three weeks after the incident originally took place.

The 39-year-old’s family have described him as an ‘amazing day, partner, son, brother and friend’ who ‘loved cyclking and carp fishing’ in their own tribute.

Police arrested a man aged 21 from Halewood at the scene on suspicion of death by dangerous driving but has since been released under investigation.
