Jurgen Klopp has disputed that Liverpool’s draw with Bayern Munich was caused by their recent mini-break.
Last season’s Champions League finalists spent 10 days in Marbella on a warm-weather training camp in the build-up to Tuesday’s last 16 first leg encounter.
The Reds appeared largely out of sorts at both ends of the pitch as they ultimately laboured to a goalless stalemate with the Bundesliga champions.
Klopp, however, refutes suggestions that his side’s apparent sluggishness was symptomatic of their preparations taking place in sunnier climes.
When asked about the influence of the Marbella trip, he replied: “The 10-day break, what is the final pass to do with that?
“You have to look at the game and think about the game, don’t prepare a question only because we have a 10-day break.
“I have no clue why we didn’t play the last pass. Sharpness has nothing do with the last pass, it is about being in the moment, doing the right step.
“You saw the situations, they were nothing to do with the 10 days. And even if [it did] we had the 10 days’ break, we cannot change it.
“Now we will not have any break anymore so now we play through and if it was a problem tonight then we will not have that problem anymore because now we play every three days.”
