Woman in 60s injured in Croxteth shooting

A woman in her 60s was injured when shots were fired at a Croxteth house.

Police were called to Willow Way at around 10.55pm on Friday to reports that a man had attempted to force entry to the property before it was shot at twice.

The woman suffered a minor leg injury and damage consistent with a firearm discharge was found to the door of the house.

A dark coloured car was seen making off in the direction of East Lancashire Road after the shots were fired.

The man is described as of slim build, around 5ft 2in tall, wearing dark clothing and a facial covering.

Emergency services attended and detectives and community officers have carried out house-to-house, forensic and witness enquiries and are providing reassurance to the community.

Detective Inspector Cath Haggerty said: “The investigation is at a very early stage but we are keen to speak to anyone with information about this reckless incident in Willow Way last night, which has left a woman in her 60’s with an injury.

“We are devoting resources to identify those responsible and ensure they are put before the courts, as well as anyone who helps store weapons on behalf of criminal groups.

“I want to appeal to anyone in the community who saw or heard anything at around 10.55pm in the area, or who has any information which may help our investigation, to come forward immediately.

“I would also appeal to any motorists or taxi drivers in the area at the time who may have dashcam footage to please come forward.

“You can speak to us directly or anonymously and for free via Crimestoppers, which I want to remind people is completely independent of the police.”
