A man has been arrested after a Liverpool hotel was vandalised with a digger.
The 35-year-old man from the Netherton area was detained on Thursday in connection with the incident at the Travelodge near Edge Lane last month.
He has been arrested on suspicion of causing criminal damage with intent to endanger life on January 21, which saw the hotel’s reception area dismantled.
Detectives have confirmed that the man, who is currently in custody, also faces charges of a Section 47 assault in relation to a separate incident in Broadgreen.
Footage of the incident at Liverpool Innovation Park went viral on social media with £600 in unpaid wages believed to be the cause of the builder’s rampage.
A GoFundMe page was set up to help raise the money owed as well as for any potential legal fees from the incident and received over £1,000 in donations.
Triton Construction, who are overseeing the building of the Travelodge, insisted that ‘no structural damage’ was caused to the hotel ahead of its spring opening.
