Teenage boy racially abused on Liverpool bus

A 13-year-old boy has been racially abused and threatened on a Liverpool bus.

A report was received on 7 November 2018 that two males on the top deck of a number 79 Arriva bus, between the Childwall Fiveways and Liverpool city centre, used racially abusive language towards a 13-year-old boy and threatened him. The incident happened sometime between 3.15-4pm that day.

An investigation to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident is continuing and we urge anyone who recognises the male pictured in the stills to come forward.

Detective Inspector Cath Haggerty said: “The victim who was targeted with racist comments and threats of violence, has been left extremely distressed and upset following the incident.

“We take all reports of hate crime extremely seriously and I would like to take this opportunity to reassure people that we have specially trained officers who investigate cases with a view to robust action being taken against offenders.

“As part of our inquiries we have issued two CCTV stills. We believe the male shown in them may have vital information which could help us with our investigation and I would appeal to her, or anyone who recognises him, to get in touch.”
