A murder probe has been launched at HMP Risley after a prisoner has died following an attack.
It is believed the prisoner, Stephen O’Donnell, was stabbed during an incident on the E wing of the facility.
Cheshire Police responded to reports of an assault shortly after 7.40pm yesterday.
The prisoner was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
A 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and is in police custody for questioning.
