Jaguar Land Rover to announce thousands of job cuts

Jaguar Land Rover are set to announce thousands of job cuts in the UK. It has not been confirmed if their Liverpool based plant will be effected.

A business update from the company is expected today.

Management, Marketing and Administrative roles are expected to be hardest hit by the cuts, however some production staff may also be affected.

A downturn in Chinese sales, a slump in diesel sales and concerns about UK competitiveness post-Brexit are all said to be factors in the decision to cut almost 5,000 jobs.

Last year JLR confirmed that the Halewood plant was to start building the successor to the successful Evoque.

An announcement is expected later today.
