Liverpool Odeon cinema to pay tribute to Prince

Prince fans will be afforded a unique opportunity to take in some of recently deceased icon’s most treasured work, with ODEON Cinemas announcing plans to screen his ‘Purple Rain’ film as part of a charity initiative.

The film, which featured one of the star’s most famous ballads, Purple Rain, will return to ODEON Liverpool ONE on Thursday, May 5 for one night only, with all profits to be donated to mental health charity, Mind.

The ground-breaking film, starring the recently passed icon, will be screened five ODEON cinemas across the UK including Liverpool One, Southampton, Manchester Printworks, Norwich and Greenwich.

Speaking ahead of the event, Andy Edge, Commercial Director at ODEON, said: “Prince has had a huge influence on popular culture all around the world, and with Purple Rain guests will see his first break on the big screen while being transported to the 1980s.

“Through working with our charity partner Mind on these screenings, guests will be celebrating the work of one of the most innovative musicians of our age, whilst simultaneously supporting a worthy cause.”

The screenings will take place at 20:15 on Thursday May 5th, with tickets on sale now, and available to book via the ODEON website – with no booking fees: http://www.odeon.co.uk/films/purple_rain_charity_screening/16690/
