Dejan Lovren believes Liverpool have exactly what it takes to win a Premier League title.
Jurgen Klopp’s side have opened up a six-point lead at the summit this week, having seen nearest challengers Manchester City falter in successive games.
Ahead of Saturday’s clash with Arsenal, the Reds remain unbeaten in the league and are currently on course to end a 29-year wait for domestic success.
And Lovren believes that Klopp has finally completed Anfield’s long-standing jigsaw puzzle with a squad which has visibly improved in the past 12 months.
He said: “I think there are quite a lot of players still here and it was like a puzzle.
“You just keep bringing these players who you missed and now I think it’s a perfect match – and you feel that in the squad. This is how it should be.
“There has always been something missing all these years but I think now, we have everything. But it doesn’t mean anything.
“Even City has in every position, when you look, they two players and top players. Every opponent will be tough and it’s not too easy to win 4-0.”
News of City’s loss to Leicester filtered through during Liverpool’s 4-0 win over Newcastle ahead of a meeting between the sides at the Etihad Stadium next month.
Lovren admits the result for Pep Guardiola’s side surprised the Anfield dressing room but is keen to guard against a repeat of their title rivals’ mistakes.
“Nobody knew to be honest. We just heard when we went in,” he added.
“Everyone was like ‘What happened? Really? Again?’ But this is football.
“It can happen to everyone and this is what we should learn from other mistakes.”
