Teenager charged over Slater Street hit-and-run

A teenager has been arrested after a hit-and-run in Liverpool city centre.

Two men were mown down by a white Ford Kuga car at the junction of Slater Street and Bold Street at around 2.45am on Christmas Eve.

Footage of the incident was captured on CCTV by nearby nightclub Diablos.

The men, both aged 19, were taken to hospital. One suffered minor facial injuries while the other’s condition has been described as serious but stable.

A 19-year-old from Stoneycroft was arrested on Aigburth Road on Monday and has been charged on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

Sergeant Gerard Farley said: “We would appeal to anyone who was in the Slater Street, Bold Street and Wood Street area to come forward if they have witnessed this incident or have witnessed a white Ford Kuga car in the area at the time travelling at speed.

“Any information provided could be vital to our investigation.”
