Andy Robertson has hailed Alisson’s impact for Liverpool this season as ‘unbelievable’.
Summer signing Alisson faced fresh scrutiny after he gifted Manchester United an undue equaliser during Sunday’s eventual 3-1 win over Jose Mourinho’s side.
But Robertson credits the goalkeeper with salvaging the Reds’ Champions League campaign with a vital late save in last week’s group finale against Napoli.
Last season’s finalists earned a last 16 tie with Bayern Munich thanks to the Brazil international denying Arkadiusz Milik from point-blank range in stoppage time.
“He’s been unbelievable this season and we all make mistakes,” said Robertson.
“It’s just if maybe Mo Salah or (Roberto) Firmino make a mistake then it doesn’t get punished because it’s up the other end.
“That’s unfortunately what a keeper has to put up with if they make a mistake, it usually turns into a goal. Of course he’ll be disappointed with it.
“But he bounced back and we can’t moan about that. He’s dug us out a hole, none other than Tuesday night and we’re still in the Champions League because of him.
“We’ve not dug him out of a hole but we’ve put in a performance that his error hasn’t been highlighted because we’ve won the game and that’s what a good squad does.”
Victory over United saw Jurgen Klopp’s side record a sixth consecutive win and maintain a one-point lead over Manchester City in the Premier League title race.
Robertson, however, is wary of Liverpool becoming complacent with a trip to the Etihad Stadium next month preceded by clashes with Arsenal, Newcastle and Wolves.
He added: “It’s been a huge last couple of weeks.
“I think people maybe looked at the fixtures and thought Everton, it’s a derby, is always tough; Bournemouth away is always tough; Napoli was a must-win and Man United speaks for itself.
“We’ve come out unscathed as such but we need to move on from it. We can’t just rest on that and go ‘four games we’ve played well’ and kind of take our eye off the ball.
“We need to stay focused 100 per cent and we look forward to the challenge at Wolves [on Friday], who have done really well this season and we know how hard that will be.”
